Only your doctor should perform a fasting blood test that will show both your LDL and HDL levels.

Also, talk with your doctor and learn all you can about high cholesterol. The more knowledgeable you can become about the causes and treatments for high cholesterol the better armed you will be to get your cholesterol levels under control.
